Steer Clear

Here at wild kingdom, you never know what you'll find when you get up in the morning, get home from work, walk to grill in the backyard - you get the point. A few of our neighbor's Texas Longhorns have been making themselves home. They have enjoyed the grassy fields, almost all the plants in the garden and like the feel of tip-toeing through my flower beds. But best of all, the manure is free. Needless to say, we'll be working on our fence this week. Maybe the cows can visit from the other side.

Shouldn't it be your neighbor who is working on a fence? We always had to keep our cattle in verses our neighbors keeping them out. Nothing like opening presents on Christmas morning being interupted by getting the cows back in. Good luck with the wayward bovines. Bob

Hi Bob,

Here in Virginia, the law states that you actually have to fence out livestock that belongs to neighbors. Evidently it's been on the books for more than 200 years. We are planning on having cattle of our own, and are in the final phase of completing our perimeter fence.
