Barn Construction - Roofing

Progress on the barn has slowed since summer, mainly due to our help returning to college. But we've moved forward and completed the sheeting and black paper on the roof to at least make it waterproof. Since the barn is close to our house, my husband wanted to make sure that it was functional, but also looked nice. So he has customized the entrances.

This week he is working on grading around the barn in preparation for a cement pad. This will be poured at the front of the barn, and then a narrow lane will be added around the exterior of the barn. It will help with support of the brick that will cover about 18" of the foundation. Once that is complete, soffets will be installed and the tin roof will be started. Finally we will add Hardy Plank siding, similar to the design used on our house and the barn and roof will be painted the same color as the house. Our goal is to have the roof and siding completed by Thanksgiving.

Wow, it looks great! Last time I was home, I didn't even notice it because I came home in the dark, and was so busy the next day.

Viva la difference! I haven't seen the barn since I was there holding string to help you guys measure. It looks fantastic! Great progress.
